First, A Dream

Imagine a porcelain-tiled roof and a wooden sliding door and an entryway filled with the scent of bamboo and incense. Around the corner stands a barista, serving her customers tea and coffee and freshly-baked sourdough.

Past the cafe comes a buzz of activity. Freelancers, writers, coders, and students from Tokyo and around the world type away at their computers and put their noses into their textbooks. Others step to the foyer for a quick break. They observe the rock garden formations below and they overlook the quiet forest and the thatched roofs out in the distance.

Why Support Us?

By joining us on this exciting path to the Kyoto countryside, you are supporting four young entrepreneurs to accomplish their dream of renovating the vacant akiya homes of rural Kyoto, restoring them to their former beauty, and invigorating rural communities and their economies.

We hope for the Local Japan podcast to not only serve as a podcast that takes you through our entrepreneurial journey to Japan but also provide a platform to build community.
